MEDITECH Takes to the Road for a Second ARRA Event in Texas

MEDITECH is continuing to reach out to customers regarding the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and how hospitals can prepare. Following up on last month's inaugural customer event at Texas Rangers Stadium in Dallas, we were pleased to see another strong turnout at our second forum, held at Minute Maid Stadium in Houston.

Barbara Hobbs, MEDITECH's manager of EHR, interoperability, and standards initiatives, and Dr. Harry Greenspun, executive vice president and chief medical officer of Perot Systems' healthcare group, provided customers with a global view of the ARRA legislation as well as information on how their MEDITECH systems can meet government mandates.

"The event went over exceedingly well," says Hobbs. "Many customers thanked their sales reps directly for MEDITECH's efforts to provide guidance and feedback on this still somewhat ambiguous legislation."

About 30 customers came from as far as 150 miles away to learn about how MEDITECH can help them along their path to meeting stimulus requirements. "As the standards become more concrete, people naturally have more questions," says Dave Collins, MEDITECH regional sales manager. "We're glad to see such a positive response to these events, and we're very excited to provide a venue where customers can exchange ideas for future planning."
