Bringing the 6.0 Community Together
MEDITECH's recent Peer-to-Peer Information Exchange event in Miami marks the beginning of many 6.0 educational and networking opportunities to come.
(5/5/2010)

Ninety MEDITECH 6.0 customers representing over forty health care organizations, eager to share and learn the most current information about the platform, recently came together at our first-ever 6.0 Peer-to-Peer Information Exchange event in Miami, Floridaproving that enthusiasm over our latest technology is not only strong, but fast on the rise!

While the participating hospitals represented a broad sampling of the various stages of 6.0 adoption, from pre-implementation planning to LIVE, virtually all agreed that the open-ended networking and customer-led presentations helped them glean valuable best practices for moving forward with the platform.

Dr. Mary Ellen Pelletier of Doylestown Hospital (Doylestown, PA), led an inspiring discussion on the practical implementation of Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), as well as the value evidence-based orders and efficiencies of the 6.0 system bring to their organization. Management team members from all divisions at MEDITECH, served as faculty throughout the event to provide a blend of educational sessions on topics such as physician adoption, CPOE, and The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)with ample time set aside for questions and face-to-face interaction.

"MEDITECH is so thrilled to be working with customers who are choosing to transform their health care delivery with the 6.0 platform," says Karen Farrell, director of marketing at MEDITECH. "MEDITECH has been working proactively to ensure customers are armed with the support and information they need for successful planning and project management."

In addition, separate tracks at the event focused on specific perspectives
CIO, nurse, and physician. For instance, CIOs and analysts discussed the finer points of infrastructure changes, printing, backups, e-mail, Scanning and Archiving, reporting strategies, and key considerations for migrating from MAGIC.

On the clinical side, MEDITECH and customer faculty led in-depth sessions on implementation strategies for physicians, as well as for nurses. Discussion in each track underscored the importance of viewing the move to 6.0 as an opportunity to transform and improve processes, with an emphasis on preparation and project management.

Even given the complexity and magnitude of the challenges before them, 6.0 customers are feeling overwhelmingly positive about the future, according to Farrell. "Health care organizations are genuinely excited about where MEDITECH's advanced 6.0 technology can take them, particularly as they strive to achieve EMR adoption and seek out government funding under ARRA," she says. "They know that by being prepared and working hard today, big rewards are likely to come for them tomorrow."
