MEDITECH
and Zynx Present Strategies for Using Evidence-Based Medicine at
MHDC Conference
Melissa Swanfeldt, Director,
Marketing at MEDITECH, and Gregory Dorn, MD, MPH, Vice President and
General Manager at Zynx Health, presented an educational session at
the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium's "2006 Healthcare
Information Technology Conference," on February 3rd. Titled
"Incorporating Evidence-based Medicine into Practice:
Innovative Approaches to Measuring and Enhancing the Effectiveness
of Patient Care," the session provided insight on how health
care organizations can improve clinical decision making and patient
care, through the combined solutions of MEDITECH and strategic ally
Zynx Health, the leading provider of evidence-based clinical
support.
The presentation outlined the
MEDITECH and Zynx "Blueprint for Quality," our nine-step
process for successfully incorporating evidence-based medicine into
practice. With the help of MEDITECH and Zynx, health care
organizations first define a rigorous evidence-based approach and
adopt strategies for optimizing and prioritizing the selection of
rules and order sets for implementation. Also as part of this
process, hospitals must achieve consensus with physicians and
clinicians on guidelines, rules, and order sets. And finally,
organizations can use the solution to monitor, measure, report on,
and analyze the impact and results of evidence-based medicine at the
point of care.
"Our clinical data and analysis
tools enable customers to build an optimal knowledge system
utilizing the latest medical evidence, so that organizations can
adjust practices based on outcomes, and deliver the most effective
patient care," says Swanfeldt. "The ability for hospitals
to make more informed clinical decisions will further promote
patient safety, and also improve the health care organization's
efficiencies and sustainability."
Customers attending HIMSS can see
this presentation firsthand. This session, which will be given by
MEDITECH, Zynx Health, and Institute for Health Metrics
representatives, is one of many exciting demonstrations for MEDITECH
customers being held at the Marriott Gaslamp Hotel, just minutes
away from the Convention Center. If you are a customer, reserve
your spot for "Achieving
Healthier Outcomes with Evidence-Based Medicine and Outcomes
Measurement."
