Stage 6 Customer: Unity Health Center
Longtime MEDITECH customer Unity Health Center becomes the first
hospital in Oklahoma to achieve Stage 6.
Five
years ago, Unity Health Center (Shawnee, OK) embarked on a
hospital-wide effort to improve care quality with the help of
information technologies. Today, they're not only celebrating the
fulfillment of these self-established goals, but also enjoying
recognition as the first health care organization in Oklahoma to
achieve Stage 6 from HIMSS Analytics.
"We knew that
leveraging technology early on was the key for us," says Kena
Jones, MSCE, CHP, vice president of information technology and the
Pharmacy department. "Achieving Stage 6 has truly validated our
efforts and brings us a great sense of pride as we continue to
evolve. But the journey doesn't conclude here; Unity is on a
continuous mission to provide the safest, highest quality patient
care."
Thanks to the staff's consistent teamwork and commitment, Unity is
seeing the benefits that come with such a high level of EMR
adoption. "Our medication scanning rates have hit an all time
high of 97%, and we're definitely seeing fewer medication errors and
better communication between disciplines because of it," says
Starla Griffith, vice president of nursing.
"Having a solid, integrated MEDITECH foundation has been
invaluable to us. And as we continue to grow, we'll certainly
continue to add more Advanced Clinical functionality to meet our
future needs."
