SISU Medical Systems Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Minnesota Health Care

SISU Medical Systems (Duluth, MN) was awarded the 2005 Outstanding Rural Health Team Award at the Minnesota Rural Health Conference last month in Duluth. This distinction is granted to only one health care organization each year, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to improving health care in Minnesota.

The organization cites technology as being a large component of their success in delivering quality care. "SISU is a unique consortium of medical centers whose team approach includes the sharing of information systems staff, hardware, software, and one centralized data center. This solid technology foundation provides all our facilities with an efficient, cost-effective means of providing sophisticated care to even the most remote, rural areas throughout Minnesota," says Dan Svendsen, CEO at SISU.

According to CIO Mark Schmidt, "Our use of the MEDITECH system is critical to our success, as we are operating in a completely integrated environment so that patient information is available to all providers, regardless of where they are across the organization. Additionally, the MEDITECH software provides a detailed record of care for each patient, including patient demographics."

Stu Lefthes, MEDITECH's vice president of sales, praises SISU for their achievements, stating, "MEDITECH is pleased to congratulate SISU for receiving this award. The health care organization exemplifies many of the positive ways technology can be maximized to achieve outstanding health care services."
