One of
MEDITECH's primary initiatives is to develop and
improve products used directly at the point of care.
Physicians, nurses, and lab technicians are among the
care providers who benefit from utilizing point-of-care
technology. Many of our customer sites utilize a
combination of mobile and fixed devices to suit the
needs of different users and settings, and our
software applications are effective in both
environments. MEDITECH's software supports such
devices as tablets, laptops, and handheld devices
operating on a variety of platforms.
Clinicians
using point-of-care computing tools have the ability
to carry out a variety of functions that increase
speed and efficiency in the delivery of health care.
These functions include accessing patient information,
documenting patient care, managing clinical workflow,
attaching orders, viewing and updating schedules, and
capturing charges for billing.
MEDITECH
recently announced the addition of Point-of-Care
Documentation on pocket PC's to its MAGIC and Client/Server
platforms. This new software will enable bedside
documentation to be completed in the palm of a
clinician's hand, supporting the clinician's mobile
work style and eliminating the need for double
documenting. Clinicians will be able to document
interventions and outcomes, review orders and results,
and check allergies and medication lists using any
handheld device running Microsoft's Pocket PC
operating system.
The
decision to go wireless is an easy one for those who
believe that a wireless solution will provide not
only long-term quality and patient safety benefits,
but also a valuable return-on-investment. An
integrated, wireless system allows more time for
patient care, while improving data accuracy, reducing
errors, such as illegibility, and controlling costs.
