Beacon Community Program grant winners include MEDITECH hospitals

Fifteen communities across the nation have been selected to serve leadership roles in improving care quality and increasing the use of health care I.T., as part of the Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program.

The communities are being awarded grants through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to build health care I.T. infrastructures, exchange electronic health care information, stimulate employment in the industry, and improve care within their communities.

MEDITECH is delighted that numerous customer sites and friends in the industry will be collaborating as participants in the winning communities to achieve these common goals.

"The Beacon communities were chosen based on their ability to demonstrate how integration and interoperability play a key role in exchanging information," states Barbara Hobbs, MEDITECH's manager of EHR, interoperability, and standards initiatives.

"MEDITECH is proud of the health care organizations selected, as they will help to build the strong infrastructure communities need to ensure better communication and health care quality for many years to come."
