Internet Access Feature

MEDITECH's Client/Server Health Care Information System includes an External Link button on its toolbar that allows users to execute any valid Windows^® or DOS command. It provides a gateway to a multitude of programs, document files, and URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) located outside the MEDITECH system.

Without leaving MEDITECH Client/Server applications, users can directly access Web sites. For example, users can create links to medical information databases either on their desktop or from the Internet. Any passwords that might be associated with these sites (if, for example, they are services such as MedLine) can be automatically passed through the External Link feature. Users create their own menu of links and the health care system can define access to each link.
