Kosair Children's Hospital Awarded Magnet™ Designation

In March, after three years of preparation, Kosair Children's Hospital (Norton Healthcare, Louisville, KY) submitted its application and required written documentation to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet™ Recognition Program appraisers. After an ANCC site visit in August, Kosair became the only Magnet™ designated hospital in Louisville and one of only 20 Magnet™ designated children’s hospitals in the country.

The Magnet Recognition Program® is based on quality indicators and standards of nursing practice, as defined in the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators. Magnet™ designation is awarded only to hospitals that pass a rigorous application process and meet the highest standards of care.

Magnet™ designation provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive.
