Parkview Medical Center Receives Avatar Five Star Service Award
(10/8/2008)
MEDITECH congratulates Parkview Medical Center (Pueblo, CO), for being named a National Award winner in health care service quality by Avatar International, a leader in health care research and consulting. Avatar's 2007 Five Star Service Inpatient Care award is based on patient survey results for loyalty and endorsement.
"Parkview Medical Center has earned the greatest compliment possible from patients," says Dr. Michael Everett, Avatar founder and CEO. "Patients would recommend Parkview Medical Center to friends and neighbors, and would return themselves if care is needed in the future. These high marks reflect the effort Parkview Medical Center puts into service quality and optimizing the patient experience. We congratulate Parkview for this significant accomplishment."
Since 2001, Parkview has worked with Avatar for its patient survey needs. "Avatar has enabled Parkview to use surveys effectively in assessing patient satisfaction," says Michelle Peulen, public relations specialist at Parkview. "By tailoring the surveys to meet the hospital's needs, Avatar is presenting us with the useful information, enabling us to establish patient satisfaction goals which fit with the organization's direction."Staff Members Understand the Importance of Putting the Patient First
By making the patient the central focusfrom admission to dischargeParkview has been able to meet its goal of delivering quality care with exceptional customer service. "Patient and community expectations are important to us," says Elliott Ring, organization effectiveness director at Parkview. "We work hard to understand, monitor, and exceed patient expectations. And we now know our patients are not only grateful for our efforts, but they also feel a loyalty to our hospital and staff."
While Parkview believes having the most state-of-the-art technology and facilities are important components to delivering quality care, it's the staff inside the hospital who make the difference and set the hospital apart. "Parkview has a phenomenal team of staff, physicians, nurses, and volunteers who believe in the importance of customer service," says Peulen. "Our staff members regularly take the time out of their day to answer our patients' questionsanything from an item on a bill or discharge instructions, to directing patients on where they need to go to get their next test done. Our staff members have made the commitment to do everything they can to make the one-on-one interaction better for all our patients."Using Technology to Provide Safe, Quality Care
Parkview's Avatar award not only validates the organization's belief in customer service, but it also underscores patient safety as the hospital's number one priority. Furthermore, having the MEDITECH Health Care Information System (HCIS) in place supports Parkview's patient safety initiatives. "By ensuring all pertinent patient data is at our care teams' fingertips, MEDITECH enables Parkview to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients," explains Peulen.
Likewise, the patients entering Parkview's doors know they are receiving safe, quality care. "Now we know our patients trust Parkview Medical Center to care for their families and friends. This award means more to us than any other one we have received," says Peulen.
