Customers Win Spirit of Excellence Awards

In the December 11th
issue, Modern Healthcare announced the
winners of its 14th annual Spirit of Excellence
Awards. We are pleased to report that five of the
eight Spirit of Excellence winners and honorable
mentions are MEDITECH customers. Congratulations to
the following sites:
- Parrish
Medical Center (Titusville, FL) won
the Spirit of Excellence Award for Service.
Parrish's new facility met the organizational
target goal of ranking in the 93rd percentile
in patient satisfaction, as ranked by
Professional Research Consultants.
- Provena
St. Joseph Medical Center (Joliet,
IL) won the Spirit of Excellence Award for
Quality. Provena was specifically lauded for
its innovations in developing standard
processes for nurse shift changes and the
JCAHO-mandated "handoff communications"
that occur at the end of each nursing shift.
- Mercy
Medical Center (Cedar Rapids, IA)
won the Spirit of Excellence Award for
Community. Mercy won for its program that
promotes vigorous exercise and educational
processes for breast cancer patients.
- Clifton
Springs Hospital and Clinic (NY) won
an Honorable Mention for Quality. The staff
at Clifton Springs was recognized for
changing its culture and encouraging blame-free
internal reporting of medical errors.
- Nazareth
Hospital (Philadelphia, PA) won an
Honorable Mention for Community. Nazareth was
honored for its campaign that offers free
screenings and education through the African-American
Stroke Awareness Program.
