Merger Announcement from
Lawrence A. Polimeno
On December 21, all of our
Home Care customers received this letter from
Lawrence A. Polimeno, Vice Chairman of MEDITECH and
previously CEO of Patient Care Technologies. Larry
welcomed everyone into the MEDITECH family and
outlined the details of the merger.
Dear Customer,
I am happy to announce that effective January 1, 2010,
the products, functions, and staff of Patient Care
Technologies, Inc. (PtCT) will be fully merged into
MEDITECH. PtCT will no longer exist as a separate
entity, and all divisions within PtCT will report
through MEDITECH's organizational structure. PtCT's
products will become part of MEDITECH's HCIS, and
will include three offerings: Home Health, Hospice,
and well@home Telehealth.
MEDITECH and PtCT are excited about this opportunity
to fully merge as a market leader of hospital and
home care technology solutions. Our merger is a
natural evolution of the long-standing, close working
relationship between our two companies, which has
grown even stronger since April 2007, when PtCT
became MEDITECH's wholly-owned subsidiary. Over the
past two years, PtCT has made significant progress as
a leading provider of home health, hospice, and
telehealth software. During this timeframe, 25 sites
have gone LIVE with Maestro, and the number of well@home
devices being used in the field has grown to include
more than 1,000. MEDITECH has provided financial
stability to the entire PtCT operation during the
past 30 months, and I am very proud of the fact that
PtCT is once again a profitable company.
The full merger of PtCT into MEDITECH not only
strengthens the financial stability and development
resources available for home care customers, it also
enables MEDITECH's Implementation and Service teams
to better align home care implementations with
customers' Health Care Information System expansion
and migration plans. MEDITECH's acquisition of PtCT
is an important step in our strategic goal of
preparing customers for the future of health care
delivery: an initiative we call "Care Without
Walls." All of our customers will benefit from
this merger in the years ahead, as health care
organizations strive to meet government mandates and
manage chronic diseases more effectively.
We aim to make this merger as seamless as possible.
Customers can still contact their Atlanta-based
service and implementation staff by continuing to
call 404-425-7828 or fax 404-425-7839. The on-line
customer service system will continue to be
accessible through www.ptct.com. MEDITECH will host
events and workshops for home care customers.
We will communicate more details about this new era
over the next several weeks and months. Our main
communication vehicle will be the new Home Care Web
Portal on www.meditech.com, which is scheduled to be
launched on January 4, 2010. The portal will feature
an interview with MEDITECH's Vice President of
Marketing Hoda Sayed-Friel and Director of Home Care
Sales Brian Doyle, as well as new literature for the
Home Health, Hospice, and well@home Telehealth
products.
We thank you for your continued support as PtCT and
MEDITECH customers. Rest assured, the best is yet to
come!
