What a Difference a Year Makes
The year 2011 helped MEDITECH to establish a foundation for EHR excellence.
The changing of the calendar signifies a time of renewal and rebirth. This is especially true for MEDITECH in 2012, as we look forward to a revelatory new year--the seeds of which were sown during a busy and ambitious 2011.
Today, MEDITECH embarks upon a new adventure as an integrated EHR vendor--with direct responsibilities stretching across the entire broad spectrum of patient care. We prepared for this undertaking last year by:
- Acquiring longtime physician practice partner LSS Data Systems, to expand and improve our customers' Ambulatory functionality.
- Expanding our team by hiring five practicing physicians.
- Promoting MEDITECH leaders Chris Anschuetz to senior vice president of technology, and Scott Radner to vice president of advanced technology, to ensure we have the right leadership and experience in place to continue evolving.
We also significantly increased our outreach and education efforts in 2011--to solicit feedback from customers, and also to share with them the advancements that arise from their recommendations. Our offerings in this area included:
- A new Doc Talk discussion series for physicians
- More Getting the Most Out of Your MEDITECH System optimization events
- An increased number of education and networking summits added to our Physician Forum, Nurse Leader Conference and CIO Technology Forum.
Perhaps one of our proudest achievements of the past 12 months was helping over 200 of our customers to successfully achieve Stage 1 of Meaningful Use--including Fauquier Hospital, Frederick Memorial Hospital, and St. Joseph Health System. We are now working hard to prepare these customers and many others for Stage 2 attestation this fall.
Both MEDITECH and its customers will face many exciting challenges in the months to come, and we've demonstrated that together, we'll be prepared and ready to take them on! Happy New Year!
