Patient-Oriented
Profiles
MEDITECH's PCI is patient centered. PCI enables users to identify
a patient once and access any type of information on hand. A
user's list of patients is automatically created and immediately
available when the user logs on to the system. PCI enables users
to:
View and compare all of a patient's results
Compile recent activity and physician lists
Monitor critical information on a personalized Clinical
Highlights menu
Adjust the time frame over which results are displayed
Conveniently access patients' data with minimal keystrokes
View patient information from other applications on one
screen
Print information
Fax patient records to physicians.
Patient profiles are also complete with result flags:
Alerting physicians of recent clinical results entered on
a patient, allowing users to view these results from a single
screen
Highlighting abnormal results in red and indicating why
the result is considered abnormal.
An
Easy-to-Use Tool
PCI is presented in a logical, step-by-step manner.
Summary to detail succession of patient information
Organization-defined listing of available patient data
A results summary for the selected information type
Result details
A Report/Specimen window
Split screens to compare different types of data
Flexible time frame adjustment, from one day to four years
Archival storage via Optical Disk
Electronic signature capability
Graphical
Capabilities
PCI displays all numeric result data in easy-to-comprehend
graphics, including:
Line, bar, and value graphs
Split screens which allow users to compare different data
types
Patient data charted against normal values for patient age
and sex
Multicolor screens and windows.
Trend
Analysis
Patient information such as glucose tests, vital signs, and
temperature readings are also presented in tables and graphs for
numeric trend analysis.
Printing
Features
PCI allows users to print patient summaries, tables, inquiry
screens, and graphs. Information can be printed to any device in
the care network, whether at the hospital, a reference lab, or
remotely in physicians' offices.
Ensuring
Patient Confidentiality
PCI's security features allow an organization to:
Assign a specific password to every user
Restrict users' access to the patient results for selected
physicians or physician groups
Restrict users' access to results for patients at specific
locations
Designate confidential patients whose data is accessible
only by authorized users
Build custom menus that display only the information users
are authorized to access, and assign these menus to selected
users
Provide a history of all users who have accessed the
patients record, which area of the record, for how long,
and from which location or workstation via audit trails
Print utilization reports which describe users' access of
patient data.
