Crossmatching

testing time by electronically checking for incompatibilities
between a patient's blood and a unit of blood or blood products
prior to transfusion. The Electronic Crossmatch capabilities
allow users to safeguard that:
Patient specimen and blood type results are current
Blood type results were confirmed by two determinations
Patient and donor units are ABO compatible
Testing for antigens and antibodies is complete
Antibody screen results are not positive
Clinically significant antibodies are not present
Donor ABO group and Rh type on the unit label are
confirmed.
